My Top 10 List of things to watch on self quarantine

Here is a list of my recent favorites to help you get through this self quarantine. Apparently I'm bored enough to put this together, so here goes. But first, I'm no expert critic by any means. In fact, if you asked Krystal, she would tell you I say every movie or series is my favorite immediately after finishing one! I guess I'm just easy to please. Regardless, here is a list of some TV entertainment I have really enjoyed over the last few weeks:

10. Love is Blind

Watch series on: Netflix

Rating: TV-MA

Quick summary: MTV's The Real World meets The Bachelor

9. Locke & Key

Watch series on: Netflix

Rating: TV-14

Quick summary: If you liked Stranger Things. This series is for you. If you have teenagers, this series will entertain you both.

8. JoJo Rabbit

Watch movie on: Amazon Prime, Vudu, Youtube, Google Play

Rating: R

Quick summary: I watched this movie solely because it just won an Oscar. I knew absolutely nothing about it. Turns out this films is a World War II satire with a bit of a Napoleon Dynamite and Drop Dead Fred feel to it.

7. Parasite

Watch movie on: Amazon Prime, Vudu, YouTube, Google Play

Rating: R

Quick summary: 10 minutes in and my selfishness of having to read subtitles was gone. In fact, I don't remember reading the subtitles after the first few minutes. This is one of the better films I have seen in a long time. The story line keeps getting more complicated with every turn while staying lighthearted enough to laugh throughout the film. 7 on my list somehow doesn't feel low enough.

6. Don't F*** with Cats

Watch 3 part series on: Netflix

Rating: TV-MA

Quick summary: If you are into serial killer and true crime documentaries, this one takes the cat. I mean, cake.

5. 1917

Watch movie on: Amazon Prime, Vudu, Youtube, Google Play

Rating: R

Quick summary: While watching this Oscar winning, World War I "based on true events film" my apple watch notified me that my heart rate had been elevated for an extended period of time.

4. Billions

Watch series on: Amazon Prime, Hulu, Showtime, Sling, Youtube TV

Rating: TV-MA

Quick Summary: This series has it all: Billionaires, politics, revenge, drama, and Paul Giamatti.

3. Kobe Bryant's Muse

Watch on: Showtime, Sling

Rating: TV-MA

Quick Summary: Kobe Bryant made this film in 2015. In his own words, Kobe describes the mentors, allies and rivalries that have helped shape his 18-year career and legacy. This film is a primer to showcase his unique storytelling ability.

2. Homeland

Watch on: Amazon Prime, Hulu, Sling, Showtime, Youtube, Google Play

Rating: TV-MA

Quick Summary: Claire Danes plays Carrie Mathison, a bi-polar CIA operative in this incredible crime/drama/mystery Showtime series. Krystal and I have watched this show since episode 1. We just couldn't put it off to binge watch later. This series is currently in its 8th and final season. So now is the time to start your "binge watching". One warning, the music and sound fx to the opening credits is awful.

1. A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Watch on: Amazon Prime, Vudu, Youtube, Google Play

Rating: PG

Quick Summary: That darn Tom Hanks... He's pretty good. After watching this Academy Award nominated film, I wanted to be a better person, treat people more kind, and introduce my wife and children to the legend, Mr. Rogers. Not many movies or shows really leave a positive mark. It's mostly "shock and awe" out there. This movie is a Mr. Rogers episode, for adults. If you watch one thing on this list, please let it be this.
